Happy Sunday!

The Liturgy for Advent begins with the antiphon, “To you, I lift up my soul, O my God. In you, I have trusted; let me not be put to shame. Nor let my enemies exult over me; and let none who hope in you be put to shame.” This antiphon is taken from Psalm 25. The Church selects it to begin the season of Advent as we lift up our souls to the living God and place our hope in Him as we anticipate the birth of His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. As we begin this season I would like to invite you to pay attention to the antiphons of the Mass each day for your prayer. These can be found in a Daily Roman Missal, online, or using Apps such as iBreviary.

I pray that everyone had a restful and enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday. This week, on December 3rd we will begin our novena in anticipation of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It will be at 6:30pm in the Church every evening from the 3rd until the 12th. While the majority of it will be in Spanish, we invite you to stop in even if you do not speak Spanish and join us in prayer for this wonderful celebration. Know of my prayers for each of you.

¡Feliz domingo!

La liturgia de Adviento comienza con la antífona: “A ti, Señor, levanto mi alma; Dios mío, en ti confío, no quede yo defraudado, que no triunfen de mí mis enemigos; pues los que esperan en ti no quedan defraudados.” Esta antífona está tomada del Salmo 25. La Iglesia la selecciona para comenzar la temporada de Adviento cuando elevamos nuestras almas al Dios viviente y ponemos nuestra esperanza en Él mientras anticipamos el nacimiento de Su Hijo, nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Al comenzar esta temporada, me gustaría invitarlos a prestar atención a las antífonas de la Misa cada día para su oración. Estos se pueden encontrar en un Misal Romano Diario, en línea o usando aplicaciones como iBreviary.

Rezo que todos tuvieran un Día de Acción de Gracias relajante y agradable. Esta semana, el 3 de diciembre, comenzaremos nuestra novena en anticipación a la Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. Será a las 6:30 de la noche en la Iglesia todas las tardes desde el 3 de diciembre hasta el 12. Si bien la mayoría será en español, lo invitamos a pasar, incluso si no habla español, y unirse a nosotros en oración por esta maravillosa celebración. Conozca mis oraciones por cada uno de ustedes.
