Happy New Year!

Our solemn and joyful celebrations of the Christmas season have left an impact on our hearts that must continue. From the vespers canticle of the Epiphany we reflect and move forward in our joyful hope: “Three mysteries mark this holy day: today the star leads the Magi to the Infant Christ; today water is changed into wine for the wedding feast; today Christ wills to be baptized by John in the river Jordan to bring us salvation.”

Traditionally, the announcement of Easter and the moveable feasts is done after the gospel on Epiphany.

In case you missed those dates, here is the announcement:
“Know dear brethren, that, as we have rejoiced at the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ, so by leave of God's mercy we announce to you also the joy of his Resurrection, who is our Savior.

• On the 5th day of March will fall Ash Wednesday, and the beginning of the fast of the most sacred Lenten season.
• On the 20th day of April you will celebrate with joy Easter Day, the Paschal feast of our Lord Jesus Christ.
• On the 1st day of June will be the Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ.
• On the 8th day of June, the feast of Pentecost.
• On the 22nd day of June, the feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.
• On the 30th day of November, the First Sunday of the Advent of our Lord Jesus Christ, to whom is honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

Since we have celebrated in faith, the greatest act of love, God made man, we can be assured that the joy of our life will flow from all these other reasons throughout the year.

In this Jubilee Year of Hope, keep the faith!

¡Feliz Año Nuevo!

Nuestras solemnes y alegres celebraciones de la temporada de Navidad han dejado un impacto en nuestros corazones que debe continuar. Desde el cántico de vísperas de la Epifanía reflexionamos y avanzamos en nuestra alegre esperanza: “Tres misterios marcan este día santo: hoy la estrella conduce a los Magos hasta el Niño Jesús; hoy el agua se convierte en vino para la fiesta de bodas; hoy Cristo quiere ser bautizado por Juan en el río Jordán para traernos la salvación”. Tradicionalmente, el anuncio de la Pascua y las fiestas movibles se hace después del evangelio de la Epifanía.

En caso de que se haya perdido esas fechas, aquí está el anuncio:
“Queridos hermanos, que, así como nos regocijamos en la Natividad de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, así también por la misericordia de Dios les anunciamos también el gozo de su Resurrección, que es nuestro Salvador.

• El día 5 de marzo caerá el Miércoles de Ceniza y el comienzo del ayuno del santísimo tiempo de Cuaresma.
• El día 20 de abril celebraremos con alegría el día de Pascua, fiesta pascual de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
• El día 1 de junio será la Ascensión de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
• El día 8 de junio, fiesta de Pentecostés.
• El día 22 de junio, fiesta del Santísimo Cuerpo y Sangre de Cristo.
• El día 30 de noviembre, Primer Domingo de Adviento de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, a quien sea el honor y la gloria por los siglos de los siglos. Amén.”

Puesto que hemos celebrado en la fe, el mayor acto de amor, Dios hecho hombre, podemos estar seguros de que la alegría de nuestra vida fluirá de todos estos otros motivos a lo largo del año.

En este Año Jubilar de la Esperanza, ¡mantengamos la fe!
