Happy Epiphany!

As our Christmas season continues into the Epiphany, we thank God for the beautiful celebrations thus far. I am so grateful for the many volunteers and staff that have been hospitable during our very busy time. A tradition I am encouraging you all to partake in this New Year 2025 is the Chalking of the Doors. On Sunday, January 5th at 2:00pm, our water will be Epiphany Water in our baptismal font.

You are welcome to drop off jugs of water with large lids. You may also take some home and bless your homes and families. The fathers of the house preside over the home and bless in the presence of the children and other family members. Here is a modified version for your use:

Leader: Peace be to this house.

All: And to all who dwell herein.

All: From the east came the Magi to Bethlehem to adore the Lord; and opening their treasures they offered precious gifts: gold for the great King, incense for the true God, and myrrh in symbol of His burial.

Leader: Our Father…Hail Mary…Glory Be.

Leader: Let us pray. Bless, + O Lord God almighty, this home, that in it there may be health, purity, the strength of victory, humility, goodness and mercy, the fulfillment of Thy law, the thanksgiving to God the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. And may this blessing remain upon this home and upon all who dwell herein. Through Christ our Lord.

All: Amen.

After the blessing, the initials of the Magi are inscribed upon the doors with the blessed chalk and rooms are sprinkled with Epiphany Water.

20 + C + M + B + 25

The letters represent the initials of the Magi — Caspar, Malchior, and Balthazar — who came to visit Jesus in His first home. It also has the meaning in Latin, Christus mansionem benedicat which can be translated: “May Christ bless the house.” The “+” signs represent the cross, and the “20” at the beginning and the “25” at the end mark the year. Taken together, this inscription requests that Christ bless this home and stay with those who dwell therein throughout the entire year.

Fiesta De La Epifanía

¡Feliz Epifanía!

A medida que nuestra temporada navideña continúa hasta la Epifanía, agradecemos a Dios por las hermosas celebraciones hasta ahora. Estoy muy agradecido por los muchos voluntarios y el personal que han sido hospitalarios durante nuestro tiempo tan ocupado. Una tradición en la que los animo a todos a participar este Año Nuevo 2025 es la de marcar las puertas con tiza. El domingo 5 de enero a las 2:00pm, nuestra agua será el Agua de Epifanía en nuestra pila bautismal. Puede dejar jarras de agua con tapas grandes. También puede llevarse un poco a casa y bendecir sus hogares y familias. Los padres de la casa presiden la casa y bendicen en presencia de los niños y otros miembros de la familia. Aquí hay una versión modificada para su uso:

Líder: La paz sea con esta casa.

Todos: Y a todos los que aquí habitan.

Todos: Del oriente vinieron los Magos a Belén para adorar al Señor; y abriendo sus tesoros ofrecieron regalos preciosos: oro para el gran Rey, incienso para el Dios verdadero y mirra en símbolo de Su entierro.

Líder: Padre Nuestro… Ave María… Gloria.

Líder: Oremos. Bendice, + oh Señor Dios todopoderoso, este hogar, para que en él haya salud, pureza, fuerza de la victoria, humildad, bondad y misericordia, el cumplimiento de tu ley, la acción de gracias a Dios Padre y al Hijo y a El espíritu santo. Y que esta bendición permanezca sobre este hogar y sobre todos los que aquí habitan. Por Cristo nuestro Señor.

Todos: Amén.

Después de la bendición, se inscriben las iniciales de los Reyes Magos en las puertas con tiza bendita y las habitaciones se rocían con Agua de Epifanía.

Las letras representan las iniciales de los Reyes Magos (Gaspar, Malchor y Baltasar) que vinieron a visitar a Jesús en su primer hogar. También tiene el significado en latín, Christus mansionem benedicat que puede traducirse: “Que Cristo bendiga la casa”. Los signos “+” representan la cruz, y el “20” al principio y el “25” al final marcan el año. En conjunto, esta inscripción pide que Cristo bendiga este hogar y permanezca con quienes habitan allí durante todo el año.
