Happy Feast of the Holy Family & Happy New Year!

The parish of Saint Joan of Arc is blessed with many families. This is a tremendous joy to have at the center of life and love for the local church. Today we are reminded that “the future of the world and of the Church passes through the family.” (Familioris consortio, 75) The family we commemorate today is the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.

At each wedding, many gather to hear the sacred words uttered to the bride and bridegroom in front of God, the clergy, family, and friends. These words set in motion a future family of faith in a household of their own. This adventure of life comes with so many fruits, challenges, joys, sorrows, and everything you can imagine.

Many faithful men and women continue to pursue the sacred bond of marriage. Among many of your family and friends, you may not hear about people getting married. This year of 2024 was an amazing year for married people here at St. Joan of Arc and the All Saints Catholic Newman Center, my former assignment. This year I officiated at least 20 weddings and I am filled with so much gratitude to witness this gift of marriage. Thanks be to God for those couples living out their mission as husband and wife this year and for the fruits of their children to flourish and continue living a sweet married life. As we celebrate this feast of the Holy Family, let’s pray for more holy marriages within our parish.

Fiesta de la Sagrada Familia

¡Feliz Fiesta de la Sagrada Familia y Feliz Año Nuevo!

La parroquia de Santa Juana de Arco tiene la bendición de contar con muchas familias. Es una enorme alegría tenerlas en el centro de la vida y el amor de la iglesia local. Hoy se nos recuerda que “el futuro del mundo y de la Iglesia pasa por la familia” (Familioris consortio, 75). La familia que conmemoramos hoy es la Sagrada Familia de Jesús, María y José.

En cada boda, muchos se reúnen para escuchar las palabras sagradas pronunciadas a los novios delante de Dios, el clero, la familia y los amigos. Estas palabras ponen en marcha una futura familia de fe en un hogar propio. Esta aventura de la vida trae consigo tantos frutos, desafíos, alegrías, tristezas y todo lo que puedas imaginar.

Muchos hombres y mujeres fieles siguen buscando el vínculo sagrado del matrimonio. Entre muchos de sus familiares y amigos, es posible que no haya oído hablar de personas que se casan. Este año 2024 fue un año increíble para las personas casadas aquí en Santa Juana de Arco y el Centro Católico Newman de Todos los Santos, mi antigua asignación. Este año oficié al menos 20 bodas y me llena de gratitud poder presenciar este regalo del matrimonio. Doy gracias a Dios por las parejas que este año viven su misión como marido y mujer y por los frutos de sus hijos para que sigan viviendo una dulce vida matrimonial. Al celebrar esta fiesta de la Sagrada Familia, oremos por más matrimonios santos en nuestra parroquia.
