Happy Advent!

This season of advent brings a great amount of hope in our preparation for the coming Solemnities of Christmas. Hope is essential to our lives, without hope to live for, without something to look forward to brings about a despair in life that becomes unbearable and an ultimate surrender to death.

As people of hope, we invite our friends and family to experience the joys of this season and the celebration of Christmas. Like the patriarchs and prophets of the Old Testament, we hope for big things in life. Think of the desert turning into fertile land and a divided family reuniting to gather again where healing takes place, and reconciliation is achieved. Many hopes remain the same today and are no different.

The difference today comes from the Lord taking on flesh and being born of the Virgin to fulfill his promise and strengthen our hope. God himself is near and dear to our hearts through our baptism, in reconciliation, and holy reception of the Eucharist. We adore Him in our adoration chapel and we beg for an increase of His presence in our lives. In this season we are attentive to the St. John the Baptist and the Blessed Virgin Mary as they are aware of the Lord’s presence and closeness.

Many opportunities will be available to prepare during this holy advent season and I encourage you to partake in the many ways such as committing to a daily advent devotional, attending our Parish Advent Mission December 15-17 in the evening, reading the daily Mass readings or spending more time in adoration. Prepare your hearts to make room for our brothers and sisters in despair and darkness that you may be the light that announces the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ!

Primer domingo de Adviento

¡Feliz Adviento!

Esta temporada de Adviento nos trae una gran cantidad de esperanza en nuestra preparación para las próximas solemnidades de Navidad. La esperanza es esencial para nuestras vidas, sin esperanza por la cual vivir, sin algo que esperar, se produce una desesperación en la vida que se vuelve insoportable y una rendición definitiva a la muerte. Como personas de esperanza, invitamos a nuestros amigos y familiares a experimentar las alegrías de esta temporada y la celebración de la Navidad. Al igual que los patriarcas y profetas del Antiguo Testamento, esperamos grandes cosas en la vida. Pensemos en el desierto que se convierte en tierra fértil y en una familia dividida que se reúne para reunirse nuevamente donde se produce la curación y se logra la reconciliación. Muchas esperanzas siguen siendo las mismas hoy y no son diferentes.

La diferencia hoy proviene de que el Señor se hizo carne y nació de la virgen para cumplir su promesa y fortalecer nuestra esperanza. Dios mismo está cerca y es querido en nuestros corazones a través de nuestro bautismo, en la reconciliación y la santa recepción de la Eucaristía. Lo adoramos en nuestra capilla de adoración y rogamos que su presencia aumente en nuestras vidas. En esta temporada estamos atentos a San Juan Bautista y a la Santísima Virgen María, ya que ellos están conscientes de la presencia y cercanía del Señor.

Habrá muchas oportunidades disponibles para prepararse durante esta santa temporada de adviento y los animo a participar de muchas maneras, como comprometerse con un devocional diario de adviento, asistir a nuestras Posadas por la noche, leer las lecturas diarias de la Misa o pasar más tiempo en adoración. Preparen sus corazones para hacer espacio para nuestros hermanos y hermanas en la desesperación y la oscuridad para que puedan ser la luz que anuncie la venida de nuestro Salvador, Jesucristo.
