The Supreme Good

Happy Sunday!

I pray everyone has had a good week. Thanks to all of our volunteers for another wonderful Fish Fry! If you haven’t had a chance to join us yet this Lent, next Friday will be our last Fish Fry of the season. Please come on by and grab a plate of our wonderful food prepared by your fellow parishioners. It is always a wonderful time and a good chance to connect with people outside of Mass.

We are glad to receive Mr. Mike Latta into the Church this weekend at the 10:30am Mass. He will be making a Profession of Faith and then will be confirmed and receive his first Holy Communion. Please keep him in your prayers. I would also like to ask you for continued prayers for our children and adults preparing for their Sacraments this year. First Reconciliation will take place at the beginning of May, and the First Communion and Confirmation Masses will take place May 13th and 20th. Thank you for your prayers as they prepare for this grace-filled occasion.

In our second reading this week we hear from St. Paul’s letter to the Philippians. He writes, “I consider everything as a loss because of the supreme good of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” As we pass into these final weeks of Lent we consider for ourselves the things we have that are truly a loss. That is, the things that we sometimes cling to that separate us from God. St. Paul reminds us that knowing Jesus Christ is the supreme good of our lives. We can ask ourselves, “Have I come to know Jesus more deeply this Lent?” “Does my love for him lead me to depend more completely on Him rather than material things?” St. Paul was willing to change his life completely when he met the Lord. Where do we find ourselves at this point?

Know of my prayers for each of you and have a great week!

In Christ,

El bien supremo

¡Feliz domingo!

Padre Connealy
