Be Prepared

Happy Sunday!

This weekend is the 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time. It’s always this time of year when our readings point us towards the end times. Jesus speaks of the sun being darkened, the moon losing light, stars falling, and the powers in the heavens being shaken. His description is very visceral! It invites us to consider our own preparedness for eternal life. If we knew these things were coming before the end of the year would we change certain aspects of our life? Jesus reminds us the time is now!

I want to thank our Adoration team for their dedication to the gift of perpetual adoration in our parish. They will have tables outside of Mass this weekend to sign up for a weekly holy hour. Please consider joining this important work. If you’re someone who gets in and out of the routine of prayer, a weekly holy hour is a good way to know exactly when you will have time set aside to pray with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament each week. Thank you for considering joining our Adoration team!

Next weekend, the Solemnity of Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, we will be hosting a Eucharistic Procession. In addition to our regularly scheduled weekend Masses we will be adding a Mass at 2:30pm. Immediately following this Mass, about 3:30 we will begin our Eucharistic Procession. It will be about a one mile loop through our neighborhood. There will be three altars set up in the neighborhood where we will stop for Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. After the last altar, we will process back to the Church and will conclude with one final Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament before returning the monstrance to the St. Katharine Drexel Chapel to resume perpetual adoration. Please pray for our final preparations that everything goes smoothly!

Have a great week and know of my prayers!

In Christ,

¡Feliz domingo!

P. Connealy
