Happy Trinity Sunday!

With great joy the Church celebrates Trinity Sunday this weekend, the first Sunday after the Easter Season. In seminary we took a course on the Trinity which was called "God Revealed". I remember thinking at the time that they should have just called it "The Trinity". However, God Revealed is a great way to understand it. We speak of the Trinity often, we know we refer to Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, but the novelty is that God has revealed Himself as three persons. That is, the Trinity is not something we have discovered by our own powers, but rather God sharing with us His life.

It was bittersweet to find out a few weeks ago that Fr. Daniel Cruz has received a new assignment from Bishop Olmsted. We are grateful for his three years here at St. Joan of Arc. I know personally, he made my transition here very smooth. I am glad to call him a friend and a brother priest. Now he is on to serve the students at Arizona State University at All Saints Newman Center. He will be a great gift to their community as he serves alongside the director of the Newman Center, Fr. Rob Clements. Thank you, Fr. Cruz, for the gift of your priesthood and presence to our parish these last three years!

While we prepare to say goodbye to Fr. Cruz, we welcome our seminarian for the summer, Jesus Martinez. Jesus just finished his third year of seminary and will begin his first year of theological studies in the fall at St. John Vianney in Denver. He will be helping with the liturgies and various projects around the parish this summer.

Please keep those to receive Sacraments in your prayers. On Saturday, June 13, we will celebrate the Sacraments of Initiation for those who were supposed to receive them at Easter. On June 19 and 26 we will celebrate our First Communion and Confirmations that also had to be postponed. Please keep all in prayer as they approach their big days!

¡Feliz domingo de la Trinidad!

Con gran alegría, la Iglesia celebra el Domingo de la Trinidad este fin de semana, el primer domingo después de la temporada de Pascua. En el seminario, tomamos un clase sobre la Trinidad que se llamó "Dios Revelado". Recuerdo haber pensado en ese momento que deberían haberlo llamado "La Trinidad". Sin embargo, "Dios Revelado" es una manera excelente de entenderlo. A menudo hablamos de la Trinidad, sabemos que nos referimos al Padre, al Hijo y al Espíritu Santo, pero la novedad es que Dios se ha revelado como tres personas. Es decir, la Trinidad no es algo que hemos descubierto por nuestros propios poderes, sino que Dios comparte con nosotros su vida.

Fue agridulce descubrir hace unas semanas pasado que el P. Daniel Cruz recibió una nueva asignación del obispo Olmsted. Estamos agradecidos por sus tres años aquí en Santa Juana de Arco. Lo sé, personalmente, hizo que mi transición aquí fuera muy fluida. Me alegra a llamarlo amigo y hermano sacerdote. Ahora, está listo para servir a los estudiantes de la Universidad Estatal de Arizona en el Centro All Saints Newman. Será un gran regalo para su comunidad, ya que sirve junto con el director del Centro Newman, el Padre Rob Clements. ¡Gracias P. Cruz por el regalo de tu sacerdocio y presencia a nuestra parroquia estos últimos tres años!

Mientras nos preparamos para decir adiós a P. Cruz, damos la bienvenida a nuestro seminarista para el verano, Jesús Martínez. Jesús acaba de terminar su tercer año de seminario y comenzará su primer año de estudios teológicos en el otoño en San Juan Vianney en Denver. Él estará ayudando con las liturgias y varios proyectos alrededor de la parroquia este verano.

Por favor, conserve aquellos para recibir los sacramentos en sus oraciones. Sábado, el 13 de junio, celebraremos los Sacramentos de Iniciación para aquellos que supuestamente los recibirían en Pascua. El 19 y 26 de junio, celebraremos nuestra Primera Comunión y Confirmaciones que también tuvieron que posponerse. ¡Por favor mantengan a todos en oración mientras se acercan a sus grandes días!
